Excursion “Kolomenskoye is residence of the Russian tsars”, $ 62, Moscow
Kolomenskoye was first mentioned in written sources of the XIV century, namely in the Testaments of Moscow Grand Prince Ivan Kalita (dated by 1336 and 1339). The unique landscape of Kolomenskoye bears traces of many generations’ life and activities. Beginning from the XV century, Kolomenskoye was a summer country residence of Moscowrulers. In the XVI and the XVII century, a unique architectural ensemble of Kolomenskoye imbued with the idea of Tsars’ residence of great artistic and historical value was shaping.
The most crucial sight is Church of the Ascension which is included in the list of monuments of the world heritage of UNESCO. There are also three more architectural monuments which are located close to the church: Bell tower of St. George (16th XVI), Water tower (17 XVII). And Hunting pavilion (19 XIX). In the former village of Dyakovo, now part of Kolomenskoye, there is one more marvelous XVI century architectural site – the Church of Beheading of St. John the Forerunner.

You have to walk a lot, so wear comfortable shoes and do not forget the umbrellas (in Moscow it often rains).
You also have to go up to the Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoye.
